According to the statement released to the Press by the Media Officer of 3SC, Tosin Omojola. Alhaji Gbolagade Busari, the former sports journalist’s body, was interred on Monday evening at Orogun area in Ibadan.

The journalist turned football administrator was said to have given up the ghost on Monday morning at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan.

Busari, as the late 3SC boss, was well known and for years he practiced as a journalist, having worked with notable media houses like the defunct Sketch newspapers.

He was one time a Special Adviser to the late Senator Abiola Ajimobi when the latter was in office as the governor of Oyo State.

He was later appointed as the Executive Chairman of 3SC by the late governor Ajimobi, a position he held until 2019.

The interment was witnessed by friends and associates of the late 3SC boss.

The Oluyole Warriors were well represented at the event by their officials and players.

Team Manager of the club, Dimeji Lawal, led the officials which included Chief coach Edith Agoye, assistant coach, Yinka Popoola, and Team Coordinator Adu Akintominiyi.

3SC skipper, Waheed Omololu, Fatai Gbadamosi, Olawale Mutiu, Awujoola Sadiq and Oripelaye Taiwo, represented the players.

 

The Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Asiwaju Seun Fakorede, also paid a condolence visit on Monday to the home of Alhaji Gbolagade Busari and described the death as “A Great Loss”.

He was accompanied by officials of the Ministry. The Commissioner who described the death of the former sports journalist as a big loss to the football fraternity said he was on the visit to condole the family on behalf of the Oyo State Government.

Fakorede, who was received by the deceased family members, eulogised the late Busari, making references to his contributions to the promotion struggles of 3SC, during and after his reign as the club’s chairman.

“The death of Alhaji Busari is indeed a big loss to football in general and 3SC in particular. He was so passionate about Shooting Stars during his lifetime, and he has left a vacuum that will be very difficult to fill,” said the Commissioner.

“Although he is gone, his good works will remain indelible in our hearts. May God grant him eternal rest and grant the family he left behind the fortitude to bear this monumental loss,”, he added.s by the Media Officer of 3SC, Tosin Omojola.
