AdeniyisBlog gathered that the Nigerian payment company Paystack has agreed to be acquired by a global payment leader Stripe for $200m to make online and offline payments easier for African businesses, and also to penetrate other regions globally.

According to the Co-founder, Shola Akinlade, “Paystack was not for sale when Stripe approached us. For us, it’s about the mission…to accelerate payments on the continent, and I am convinced that Stripe will help us get there faster. It is a very natural move,”.

The company was co-founded in 2015 by Shola Akinlade and Ezra Olubi, which manages payments through an online platform in Nigeria.

Paystack is recorded to have more than 60,000 businesses using its platform and planning to grow beyond Nigeria and Ghana, where it presently operates.
