The erected statue of Late Chief Obafemi Jeremiah Oyeniyi Awolowo, GCFR located in the State Capital Secretariat, Alausa Lagos has been defaced by hoodlums.
AdeniyisBlog gathered that the iconic glasses was removed from the statue during attacks on some government properties in the state.
Chief Awolowo was a Nigerian nationalist and statesman who played a key role in Nigeria’s independence movement.
In 2017, the statue was moved to the present location by the immediate past governor of Lagos State; Mr Akinwunmi Ambode to acknowledge the contributions of the late sage whose deeds and ideas were instrumental in making the South-West region, a formidable political and intellectual force in Nigeria.
